3G and 4G

The hottest topic in the field of smartphones in Pakistan is 3G and 4G. After the auctions held in Islamabad, Ufone, Telenor and Mobilink bought 3G license while Zong bought 3G and 4G, both licenses. As for Warid, it didn't bought anything. We've seen a lot of commercials and ads, but what is 3G and 4G? What do these networks do? And what's the difference between them? Lets discuss it here.

3G and 4G are both networks which differ from each other in terms of internet speed. First comes 3G. 3G allows the user to enjoy the high speed internet. Minimum speed for 3G is 200 kbps while the maximum speed can go up to several megabytes per second (almost 5-10 Mbps) depending on the network usage and telecom operator. Up next is 4G. 4G is nearly 10 times faster than 3G with minimum speed of no less than 100 Mbps. Maximum speed of 4G can go up to 1 Gbps. 4G really boosts up the internet speed allowing the user to stream videos in the blink of an eye.

Only Ufone has promoted 3G in the way it should be promoted and every single detail of 3G like packages, coverage etc. is present on their website. Zong and Telenor have provided detail on their respective websites. Zong 3G/4G coverage hasn't been available on their website but they claim they will soon upload the coverage. You can find if Telenor and Mobilink 3G service is available in your area by dialing "*7799#".

If you are a 3G or 4G user, please share your experience here and tell whether you are satisfied or not with your operator service.
