Custom UI is something not seen in many smartphones. Only the
top smartphone companies provide Custom UI in their smartphones. Sometimes when
you buy a smartphone (Samsung, HTC, LG, Huawei etc.) and tell your friends
about its features including the UI, most of them usually ask the same question,
“What is UI?” So this post is for those people who don’t know what custom UI is.
That’s all for the custom UI. If you find any difficulty understanding the custom UI, you can ask and I’ll just explain it to you.
Before we go on with custom UI, let me tell you about UI. UI
stands for User Interface. As you may have already guessed, UI is the appearance of
the OS of the smartphone like the home screen, menu etc. And Custom UI is the user
interface designed by a smartphone company for their smartphone. This feature
is very common in Android devices. You may have noticed that smartphones like
Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, LG G2 and Huawei Ascend P6 run same OS i.e. Android
4.2 (JellyBean) but their looks of home screen and menu are different from each
other. This is because of their Custom UI. Some popular Custom UI are TouchWiz
UI (Samsung), Sense UI (HTC) and Emotion UI (Huawei). The purpose of custom UI
is to provide a unique and user-friendly environment where user can easily
operate. And also to make a smartphone’s “OS look” different from another
smartphone running the same OS. Here is a screenshot of different UI to help you understand better.
